I was at the Dress Barn on Friday afternoon, shopping for something to wear to my little brother's wedding next month. My mom strongly hinted that I should wear a skirt. I don't do skirts. But I really didn't feel like plain dress pants were dressy enough. So, I was really having a hard time. Then one of the employees came and asked if I needed some help. And of course, I cringe a litte (admit it, you all do it...tyring to avoid the pushy sales person). But I told her what I was looking for.
This woman was a wonderful help!! And with her help, I was able to find an entire outfit, including shoes and jewerly...all in one stop!! Now that's my kind of shopping!
But, while I was there, the lady that was helping me was telling another customer about a VIP shopping party. I only heard bits and pieces of the discussion as I was working on finding shoes to go with my outfit at the time, so I asked the lady about when she came back to help me. Here's the scoop...
The Dress Barn will hold a shopping party for you and your friends, including snacks, drinks and PERSONAL SHOPPERS!!! The host of the party will receive a 25% discount and all of her friends will receive a 15% discount. So I asked what the cost of this party is, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear that it is FREE!!
So, next time you or a woman is your life is trying to figure out what to do for the next ladies get together, keep this in mind! I usually hate shopping for clothes, but with my wonderful experience at the Dress Barn, I cannot wait to get some friends together and have a VIP Shopping Party!

New Layout again....
Since the other layout I was using didn't seem to be working anymore, I went back to my old layout. Someday when I have a little more time, I'll take a look into finding a new one again. Until then, this one will do!

First Day of School
Well, my first day of school has come and gone...an no, my mommy didn't come and take pictures LOL. I was really surprised how nervous I was. I just wasn't sure what to expect. Class wasn't bad, the teacher is pretty nice (a little dorky, but what do you expect with a science teacher??). Since I am taking going through school with an advance program, my classes are only 5 weeks long; one day a week, 4 hour long classes. So it's a lot of work in a short amount of time, but I think I can do it.
I hope so. I have to get a C or higher in order for my employer to pay for the course.

Britax Marathon Car Seat
As some of you may know or may have read from my earlier blog entries, I was in a car accident earlier this summer. As some of you may also know, if a car seat in involved in an accident, it is recommended that you get a new one. Even if the car seat is not in use at the time of the accident, it is still recommended to get a new one. So, I was back in the market for a convertible car seat for my 3 year old.
So, first things first I went to my favorite mommy message board (www.mommiesnbabies.com) and asked what their recommendations were. Again and again I got the same answer, Britax Marathon. When my son turned 1 year old, I had posed this same question and had gotten the same answer. So, when the answer was the same two years later, I decided to look into it some more.
I went to many websites to research cost and read other people's reviews. Every thing I read told me that this was the car seat to get, and that it was totally worth the money. I checked Toys R Us, Target and Sears online. I found it cheapest at Sears for $240.00, plus shipping. I know that may seem expensive to some people, but as it was posed to me, can you really put a price on your child's safety?
One of the reasons I wanted a Britax Marathon is because a friend had one for their son when we took a trip to the zoo. On the way home when our children were sleeping, my son was slumped forward in his seat, and their son never fell forward. When I asked what kind of seat they had, low and behold, it was a Britax Marthon!!
And the perks don't end there. After we got the seat, it was time for the dreaded installation into my vehicle. Unlike most car seats, the latch system uses two separate straps insead of just one. There is one strap on each side, connected to a metal bar, which is screwed into the side of the seat. And instead of the usual clips at the end of the belts, there are connectors that are more like a seat belt, which you just push onto the vehicle's latch bar in the seat...and it has a release button just like a seatbelt! And when it's time to tighten the belts, you tighten each side, instead of on just one side. I usually struggle to get the latch belt tight enough, but this was very simple!
The recommended weights for this seat are 5-35 pounds, rear facing. And front facing is 20-65 pounds. Recommended max. standing height is 49 inches. (For more informaiton, please visit the Britax website.)
Of course my son, Caiden thinks the new seat is really cool, and he also loves the fact that he sits up higher!
And for the final test, Caiden fell asleep in the seat during an hour long drive home, and never once did he slump forward in his seat!!
I strongly recommend the Britax Marathon for anyone who is looking for a convertible car seat. It is 120% worth the cost of the seat.

Are you watching the Olympics? I think you could call me an addict!! I love watching them!!
What event are you most drawn to? I have always loved watching gymnastics, especially women's, so that is what I'm drawn to most. (I have my TiVo set to record all gymnastics events) I also like swimming and diving.
What event did you not even know was an event? Equestrian, I caught it on yesterday...who would have known!?!?

3x Thursday 8/7/08
3x Thursday: 08/07/y2k+8: In A Different Universe...
1. If you could be animal, what would it be? Why? I would be a dolphin, because I think that they are facinating animals. I have always loved them. So I would be interested to see what it is like to be a dolphin.
2. If you could do one nice thing for anyone in the world (money, time, etc are not important here) For just one person? Hmmm.... I would probably help one of the non-profit compaines here in town to rebuild after the flood. Probably the Boys & Girls club...they lost everything.
3. What are you doing right now? If you could be doing anything else right now, what would it be? Why? I am answering these questions right now. I would rather be sitting on a beach by a warm ocean, because I need a nice relaxing vacation right now and I've never seen the ocean!
Remember to post these in your blog and don't forget to post a comment letting us know where you posted them by posting a link here!

Wednesday Mind Hump
Hello, mind humpers. Today's Hump is about photography.Tell us about one of your favorite photos that you have taken. Tell us why you like it so much and the story behind it. If you can post it, please do so! Let everyone see your wonderful work.
My favorite picture that I have taken is this one.
Why is it my favorite? Because I took it and it actually turned out good!! That usually doesn't happen with me LOL. I just love the look of concentration on his face. And to catch the bubble coming...I just think it is a really neat picture that shows my son's love of blowing bubbles!!
I used photoshop for the coloring too, which I think turned out neat as well. I entered this into a photo contest where I work and finished just under honorable mention!!
Wednesday Media Mix, 8.6.08
Listen: What is the very best concert you’ve been to? Since I have only been to two concerts, I'll have to say KISS. But come October, when I go see NKOTB, that may change. When I go see Josh Groban (it will happen some day, I Promise) that will be the best concert ever.
Watch: Name a scene from a movie that completely changed the way you view something in life. No particular scene, but after watching the Matrix movie (I can't remember if it was the first or second one) I remember having a discussion with my hubby and a friend about if that was really real...how do we know it's not... Really makes a person think!!
Read: Is there a genre you’ve tried to get into, but never have been able to? Romance...I just can't get into them.
